    NEP Initiatives

    National Education Policy (NEP) 2020

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 envisages making India a global hub of quality education through curriculum reform, technology integration and international collaboration. NEP-2020 is based on the cornerstone of 'Equitable and Inclusive Education: Learning for All'. As per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, significant steps have been taken to implement Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), with emphasis on inclusive education, equitable access, affordability and reducing inequalities. The goal of NEP 2020 to establish India as a global knowledge superpower is being successfully implemented in the Kendriya Vidyalayas of KVS Varanasi region.

Implementation of various provisions of NEP-2020

    • Re-alignment of Age of Admission:- In line with the recommendation of NEP – 2020, the age of admission to Class-1 in all Kendriya Vidyalayas from the academic year 2022-23 has been revised to 6+ years.
    • Nipun Bharat Initiative – A National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Numerical Comprehension (NIPUN) document lists class-wise goals or learning outcomes (LOs) in English, Hindi, and Numerical Computation and Comprehension.
    • Tracking of progress of students from Classes I to III to ensure attainment of FLN is monitored by recording through a web-application linked to PIMS.
    • Launched in 2021-22 for Class 1 students, extended to Class 2 in 2022-23 and up to Class 3 in 2023-24.
    • Students are assessed at the entry, middle and exit stages through a number of informal observations.
    • Primary teachers/head teachers were trained to conduct such assessments and plan learning interventions based on the analysis of the data obtained.
    • inclusive education

      Inclusive Education
The National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, recognises education as a powerful tool for achieving social justice and equity, underlining the importance of inclusive education as a means to promote an inclusive community and society.

By integrating the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion into the education system, we pave the way for wider access to schooling, increased participation in the workforce, and lifelong learning opportunities for learners of all backgrounds and abilities. This not only benefits individual students but also contributes to the overall development and well-being of society.

A key aspect of putting the policy into practice is to remove educational barriers and ensure that facilities and services are accessible to all learners, including children with special needs (CWSN). The NEP, 2020, recognises the importance of disability inclusion and dedicates a chapter to equitable and inclusive education. This chapter focuses on identifying and addressing issues and challenges related to disability inclusion in education, as well as providing recommendations to bridge gaps in access and participation for all learners and reduce inequalities.

By actively incorporating these principles into educational policies and practices, we can work toward building a more inclusive and equitable society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the fullest extent of their abilities.

      Facilities available for CWSN
KVS adopts inclusiveness in education and provides facilities for CWSN (children with special needs), which include a range of support systems designed to meet the needs and requirements of children with different types of disabilities. Provision of ramps and special toilets, availability of special teachers, etc.

      Training and Development

A tentative schedule of workshops and training is sought from all Kendriya Vidyalayas in the month of April 2023. Keeping in view the guidelines and requirement given by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (HQ), the workshops and training program is being prepared and implemented at the regional level. All Kendriya Vidyalayas follow the given schedule as per the order.

Broad Objectives of the Workshops and Trainings:

      • To sensitize teachers towards the needs, interests and problems of students.
      • Capacity building and attitude change of teachers.
      • To update the employee with the changes and developments taking place in the field of education.

      • Student Parliament

        Student Parliament
